Two Color Adjusted Photos

Original

Adding Vidid Light filter, and adjusting contrast, used selection tool for buildings

Original

Using selection tool, making a new layer, then making the background black and white

Once I actually started playing around with the options for color, I became very invested in playing. I loved this assignment. I definitely learned a lot this week with photoshop.

  1. I love how you changed the light coming from the building!

  2. I really like that you darkened the building. It actually looks better than the original! The second photo is nice too. Making the background black and white makes the jar of coins stand out more.

  3. The first photograph is excellent, aside from the adjustments you made. The composition with the leading lines, leads your eye right into the photo and then the lights bring you back. While it's not always recommended to reduce the amount of information in a photograph, sometimes it is worth it, as is with this. The second photo is a great exercise in selecting and transforming. Getting rid of the color and the surrounding area helps to bring the focus to the coins. Especially because the color of the wood is very similar to the color of the copper.

  4. I like how you darkened the building in your first photo. You really only see the outline through the lighting in the windows. Also in your second photo it was a cool effect to see the background of your coins as black and white.

  6. The change jar is really neat, I wonder if you could make the copper colored reflection of the coins on the glass could be made black and white as well.
